HJ FOUNDATION
The HJ Foundation is non profit corporation under 501 3C of the IRS Code. It was created in 2003 to provide funding and support to the high school golf programs. Donations are now over 100,000K to support 29 Palms and Yucca Valley High Schools golf programs.
The tournament has been held every year since 1998 with the exception of 2020 due to the worldwide pandemic. We are looking forward to bringing back the HJ Foundation Golf tournament in 2024 in Boulder Creek, Nevada.Who Are We
The HJ Memorial actually started from humble beginnings in 1994 when 4 friends from Yucca Valley (Doug Bryant, Dennis Milner, Jack Goodell and John Pecorella) ventured out to Goodyear, Arizona for 3 days of "Male Bonding" golf, gin rummy and adult beverages. A good time was had so it was decided that we would do it again in 1995.
In '95 Doug, Dennis, John and Dave McIntyre went to San Diego again for 3 days of the same. This annual gathering started to gain momentum as other friends heard of the trip and wanted to join. In '96 eight of us went to Tehachapi, California and in '97 another eight went to San Luis Rey Downs north of San Diego.
The annual gathering was just referred to as "The Games". In May of 1998 the games were scheduled to go back to Tehachapi. November of 1997 Doug Bryant was diagnosed with a brain tumor, he passed away in March of '98. Doug's nickname among a few of his close friends was HJ. When the games commenced in May, in honor of Doug, the annual gathering become known as the HJ Memorial.
The HJ Memorial continued to grow. By 2003 it became HJ Foundation a 501 3C non-profit. Now, in honor of Doug and other players we have lost over the years, the foundation supports the golf programs at two high schools in 29 Palms and Yucca Valley, California. The HJ Foundation has been and is still going strong after 26 years. We are proud to say that we have raised in excess of $100,000 for our schools.
Thank you for visiting.2024 CHAMPIONS
